Project Description
The works consist of 3.7 Km of 400mm (HDPE DN400 PE100 PN16 Purple Jacket) from the Altona Treatment Plant on Queen Street Altona Meadows to the Qenos Manfacturing Plant on Maidstone Street Altona. Pipe laying / excavations are to be conducted through native vegetation such as Coastal Saltmarsh, Plains Grassland and Spiny Rice Flower. A 15m corridor has been allowed for the construction works. Stakeholders include; Hobsons Bay City Council, DSE, Ecology Partners, GHD, VLine, VicTrack, Metro Trains, Melbourne Water, Qenos Manufacturing Plant, WAG Pipelines and VicRoads.
Targets / Performance Outcomes
- 48 metre rail bore with 450mm concrete jacking pipe under the Metropolitan Rail line between Westona and Laverton Stations (SAP required)
- 85 metre rail bore with 450mm concrete jacking pipe under the Melbourne – Geelong Rail line (SAP required). Including boring under a High Pressure Shell Black Oil Pipeline (on site inspector required throughout duration of the bore), a High Pressure Shell White Oil Pipeline (on site inspector required throughout duration of the bore) and railway communications and cabling
- Bore under Laverton Creek (Melbourne Water Asset)
- Open cutting through Kayes Drain (Melbourne Water Asset)
- Open cut through Hobsons City Bay Council road asset (Modal Place, Altona)
- Bore under VicRoads asset (Maidstone Street, Altona)
- Pipe laying / excavations through Qenos Oelfins Site (compulsory induction required by all personnel)
- Restricted/limited access to all sections of works. Temporary roads to be constructed
Environmental Aspects; No-go areas – 1.5m temporary fencing to be used throughout the duration of the works with No-go zone signage to be displayed at all times - Compulsory environmental induction with CWW, GHD and Ecology Partners
